How to push down negative search results

Most damaging results cannot be deleted, but the first page of Google only has about ten spots. Filling them with accurate, authoritative pages about you pushes the negative result down to where few people look.

Map what ranks today

Search your name or business name signed out and in a private window, and record every result on the first two pages. That is your baseline.

Strengthen what you own

Your website, a fully completed Google Business Profile, and active profiles on LinkedIn, industry directories, and social platforms all tend to rank for your name when they are complete and kept up to date.

Publish genuinely useful content

Articles, interviews, case studies, and videos about your work give Google more relevant pages to show. Quality and relevance matter more than volume.

Earn coverage

Mentions in local news, trade publications, and association sites carry authority, and often outrank complaint sites and old articles.

Be patient and consistent

Suppression usually takes months, not weeks, depending on how strong the negative page is. Avoid fake content or link schemes, which can backfire.
