Reddit threads now rank prominently on Google for names and business names, so a single post can become the first thing people find. There are several distinct routes to removal, and choosing the right one matters.
Reddit’s content policy bans harassment, sharing private information, impersonation, and threats sitewide. Use the report option on the post or comment and choose the matching rule. Posts exposing an address, phone number, or other personal details have one of the strongest cases.
Each subreddit has its own rules, and moderators can remove content that breaks them even when it does not break Reddit’s sitewide policy. A short, polite message through modmail, pointing to the specific rule, works far better than a complaint.
Reddit handles copyright notices and other legal removal requests, including defamation, through separate forms. These are judged on legal grounds and need more documentation.
Once a post is removed, Google may keep showing a stale version for a while. Google’s outdated content tool asks it to refresh or drop the result. Copies on archive and mirror sites need to be handled separately.
Replying, especially from a new account, usually bumps the thread and keeps it visible. If a response is needed, make it one calm, factual comment from an identifiable account.
Reddit does not reveal user identities except through legal process, such as a subpoena in a lawsuit.

Personal details published without consent have one of the clearest removal pathways. Here is how it works.
